SLEEK IN STREETERVILLE – CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS

By Dennis Rodkin, from Crain’s Chicago Business:

When Kathy Bartlett was planning a move into Chicago from the far southwest suburbs in 2015, she wanted a condo that could be “my tranquil haven in the city,” she says. The one she found, on the 31st floor of a riverfront building in Streeterville, had a lot of space and nice views but “wasn’t all it could be,” she recalls.

To bring in the sizzle she felt the 3,400-square-foot space needed, Bartlett tapped Michael Miller’s River North-based Centaur Interiors, which had previously redone her Plainfield home. Miller removed walls to make the space more open, installed a sleek kitchen, lightened the floors and made other upgrades.

The three-bedroom condo on East North Water Street now has the “sophisticated and tranquil” character Bartlett was hoping for. With her daughter preparing to leave for college in a year, Bartlett, a tech entrepreneur, is planning to downsize. She’ll put the condo on the market today at $2.5 million, represented by Deena Schencker of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty.
